When kidneys fail to function properly, making a right choice about what to eat will be very important, as some foods may increase kidney burden and worsen illness condition. Well then, it is ok to eat peaches with chronic kidney disease?

Peach is deeply loved by all the people owing to its sweet flesh. It is a summertime staple. As a popular fruits, peaches benefit us in many ways:

1. Peaches contain 10 different vitamins like vitamin A, B6, C, E and K and so on.

2. Peaches are high in potassium which plays an important role in helping us maintain healthy blood pressure as well as preventing kidney stones and bone loss. Also, it contains lots of many other minerals like phosphorus, zinc, magnesium, copper, manganese, iron and calcium and so on.

3. Peaches contain antioxidants like chlorogenic acid which are present in the flesh and skin of peaches. An antioxidant is a molecule that can protect our cells gainst the effects of free radicals.

4. Peaches also contain fiber which show great effects in smoothing digestion, preventing constipation, ensuring colon health as well as regulating our cholesterol level.

Are peaches kidney friendly?

Peaches are health-beneficial, but for many people like chronic kidney disease patients with high levels of potassium in blood, they need to avoid eating too much peaches, as persistent high potassium level will cause damages on nerves, digestions and heart problems like irregular heartbeat.

For chronic kidney disease patients, aside from peaches, there are many other high potassium foods which needed be avoided or limited and they are white beans, dark leafy greens, baked potatoes, dried apricots, baked acorn squash, yogurt, fish, avocados, mushrooms and bananas and so on.
