Risk Factors of Cardiovascular Disease for the Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease

2014-08-24 14:16

Chronic Kidney Disease(CKD) is common disease around us. According to statistics, almost every ten people have a person suffering from CKD. And CKD is not a simple disease, because it can cause many complications as the disease worsens, and one of the threatening complications is cardiovascular disease(CVD). In order to live a better life, knowing the risk factors of cardiovascular disease for the patients with CKD is necessary.

First, high blood pressure is the second leading cause of CKD, because it can damage blood vessel walls over time, which can reduce the amount of oxygen in kidneys and heart. Besides, high blood pressure also can damage the tiny filters inside the kidneys that can clean our blood. Thus, a CKD person with high blood pressure is more likely to suffer from cardiovascular disease.

Second, water-sodium retention also is one of the factors that induce CVD. Because normal kidneys have the function of adjusting water and sodium, damaged kidneys fail to remove the excess water and sodium, and they can stay in body, which can increase the blood volume, that is to say, the heart need to do more work, which can cause ventricular hypertrophy and heart failure, etc.

Third, anemia also is a common symptom of kidney disease. Healthy kidneys produce erythropoietin (EPO) that can help produce red blood cells. While, damaged kidneys cannot produce enough EPO, which can cause that less blood flows into heart. That is to say, heart fail to circulate the oxygen needed by the other organs and cells which can cause CVD.

Fourth, Abnormal calcium and phosphorus levels can lead to CVD indirectly.

Besides, inflammation also is a key promoter in the development of cardiovascular disease. And other factors that can lead to CVD have diabetes, obesity and so on.

In conclusion, there are many risk factors of cardiovascular disease for the patients with CKD. Treating CKD timely can prevent CVD better. In China, except Dialysis an kidney transplant, we also have Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Immunotherapy, foot bath therapy, oral Chinese medicine and so on, which also can help you prevent CVD and get rid of CKD. Best wishes!
