At What Level of Creatinine Dialysis Is Required

2013-03-18 09:55

Dialysis is necessary for kidney failure patients when their creatinine value increases to a certain level. However, at what level of creatinine, dialysis is required?

In theory, dialysis is required when creatinine increases to 5, as creatinine 5 means the toxins in the blood has caused serious threatening to our internal organs. However, in fact, many patients do not start dialysis at all even if their creatinine value has increased to a very high level. Toward the topic at what level of creatinine dialysis is required, there are mainly two opinions:

1. Dialysis should be done as early as possible

Some kidney failure patients hold the opinion that dialysis should be done as early as possible, because of high toxins in the blood may damage any part of our body. The earlier the kidney failure patients start dialysis, the less likely that they suffer from kidney failure complications like heart failure, digestive problems and nerve symptoms and so on.

2. Kidney failure patients should start dialysis as late as possible

For some other kidney failure patients, they insist the statement that dialysis should be started as late as possible, as dialysis will cause many side effects like low blood pressure, headache and disequilibrium syndrome and so on. Also, dialysis can not repair injured renal tissues and it just replace damaged kidneys to clean the blood outside the body. Under such a condition, kidneys can not get enough blood and more and more kidney tissues will become necrotic gradually. What is more, once kidney failure patients start dialysis, they can not stop casually and need to do it repeatedly.

Different people have different opinions toward this topic and kidney failure patients have their own right to decide when they will start dialysis. If you have a very high creatinine and no serious complications, you can live without dialysis, but once your toxins in the blood brings you discomforts like itching skin, nausea and vomit and so on, please start dialysis as early as possible, because these symptoms indicate toxins in tour blood is affecting your other internal organs.
