What Creatinine Level Will Make You Feel NauseaWhat creatinine level will make you feel nausea? Nausea and vomiting are bothersome digestive problem which usually occurs as a complication of chronic renal failure. And usually, the higher the serum creatinine level, the more likely that nausea occurs. Well then, what creatinine level will make renal failure patients feel nausea?

Causes of nausea in chronic renal failure

Chronic renal failure patients usually feel nausea when:

1. There is gastrointestinal edema

Gastrointestinal edema is one of the major causes for chronic kidney failure patients to feel nausea. Edema occurs when excessive fluid and sodium can not be discharged successfully and timely. It not only occurs in gastrointestinal tract, but also many other body parts like face and limbs and so on.

2. High blood urea nitrogen

When kidney function is seriously affected and kidneys will fail to discharge toxic substances like urea nitrogen. These toxins build up in the body and nausea feeling occurs when these substances stimulate gastrointestinal tract.

3. Uremia ulcer

In uremia stage, a substance named urease will be produced in gastrointestinal tract. Due to this substance, urea will be broken down to produce ammonia which can cause uremia ulcer. Uremia ulcer is a cause for renal failure patients to feel nausea and vomiting.

What creatinine level will make you feel nausea?

Actually, similar with urea nitrogen, creatinine is also a substance that is produced in our body and normally discharged with kidneys. When kidney function is affected, not only creatinine level, but also blood urea nitrogen level increases.

Dialysis and kidney transplant are suggested usually when serum creatinine is increased to 5, as it indicates there are excessive toxins in blood. In that case, patients run high risk for nausea symptom, however, there are still cases in which patients have no discomforts even though their serum creatinine level has increase to as high as 8.

Due to difference of illness condition, patients may experience different symptoms in different stage, so it is hard to an accurate answer about the question: What creatinine level will make you feel nausea. But one thing is sure and that is the higher the creatinine is, the more likely that patients experience nausea symptom.
