When Would Kidney Replacement Be Required

2013-05-16 12:35

My creatinine level is 2.1, and I am also diabetic with hypertension. When would kidney replacement be required, doctor? If your creatinine level is higher than the normal, you must also concern when you need to begin dialysis just like this patient.

High creatinine level is an important test that reflects kidneys are not working very well, but this doesn’t mean patients have to start kidney replacement therapy as soon as they find their creatinine level raises higher than the normal (0.5-1.1mg/dl for female and 0.6-1.2mg/dl). The reason is that our kidneys are great organs that can still do their job even though they are not functioning at 100%.

According to American Kidney Foundation guideline, kidney disease patients are recommended to begin dialysis or other kidney replacement therapy when their kidney function is less than 15% where patients’ creatinine level is usually higher than 5.0mg/dl. Creatinine 2.1 is much lower than this value, so it is the time to seek a treatment to stop kidney function decline rather than starting kidney dialysis. Three options can help patients delay or even avoid dialysis forever.

Blood purification: Different types of blood purifications are used to remove wastes include creatinine from the blood timely so as to provide a clean and normal internal environment for the recovery of damaged kidney cells.

Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy: Basing on traditional Chinese medicine but overcoming its shortage, this therapy has helped many patients improve their kidney function successfully. In this treatment, many other therapies such as medicated bath, cupping, acupuncture, massage, etc, are also used to strengthen the effect.

Immunotherapy: As a new breakthrough in kidney disease treatment, Immunotherapy can not only purify blood but also repair the damaged kidney tissues through improving these cells’ self-curative ability and supplying them enough nutrition. Once your kidney function is improved largely, you can live as healthy as others.
