My daughter is 6 years old and was told has 35% kidney function on the right side with some pretty bad scarring. I searched and found she is in stage 3 kidney failure, so my questions is how long will it be until she needs dialysis?
Chronic Kidney Failure, also can be called Chronic Kidney Disease, refers to the progressive loss of kidney function. In clinic, dialysis is usually suggested by doctors when kidney function decreases to 15, but in reality, many kidney failure patients do not start dialysis until their life is seriously threatened.
Your daughter has 35% kidney function and she has great chance to avoid dialysis. Chronic Kidney Failure progresses as more and more kidney tissues are damaged. In her kidney now, there are healthy, injured and dead kidney intrinsic cells. For these injured kidney cells, they can be repaired by strengthening their self-repairing ability. In this way, kidney function can be improved. If they are not repaired timely, they will become necrotic and lose their working ability gradually. Therefore, you need to bring your daughter to the medical treatment like Immunotherapy as soon as possible.
Besides, please change the diet for your daughter. Low-protein diet is necessary, but please remember to arrange some high quality protein which can be found in fish, lean meat, egg white and milk. Also, try to add less salt while cooking as high salt intake will induce high blood pressure and swelling.
Lastly, does your daughter has any symptoms now? If yes, please remember to bring these symptoms under contro, as they can accelerate Chronic Kidney Failure to end stage renal disease (ESRD) directly.
When all these are done timely, your daughter will receive good recovery and dialysis will be avoided, at least delayed greatly, so please take action as soon as possble. Lastly, if you have any other questions or is there anything unclear, please feel free to consult us.
