What Is The Chance To Get Off Dialysis With 8% Kidney Function

2013-06-09 16:19

Q:

My husband was just told today his blood tests are showing only 8% kidney function now. He undergoes dialysis three times a week now. Can he get off dialysis with some methods? What is the chance?

A:

What Is The Chance To Get Off Dialysis With 8% Kidney FunctionWhen only 8% kidney function is left, dialysis is required for life safety. Dialysis is a medical method that can help to clean blood. However, the treatment effects are temporary, so it is not a long-term solution. For one with 8% kidney function, whether he can get off dialysis depends on his exact illness condition. Generally speaking, if he still has a certain urine output, he has chance to get rid of dialysis.

In normal condition, blood flow into kidney and then wastes and excess fluid are discharged as the form of urine. Urine output means there are certain healthy kidney function and kidneys still can filter some blood. Under such a condition, it is possible for medications to flow into kidneys to repair injured kidney intrinsic cells with bloodstream.

According to your husband’s illness condition, I suggest him to try Immunotherapy which combines western medicines and Chinese medicines. We know Chinese medicine and western medicine see kidney failure in different ways and patients can receive different treatment effects with different medicines. Chinese medicine and western medicine have different advantage in treating kidney failure. By combining them, treatment effects can be increased greatly.

For your husband, he can live without dialysis when his GFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate) is increased to 15. I do not know too much about your husband’s except he is undergoing dialysis 3 times a week and only 8% of his kidney function is left. Do you have his test report? I suggest you send the test report to kidneyfailure@hotmail.com. I will ask our experts to helo analyse it and then give some description about the treatment effects if your husband receives Immunotherapy. Lastly, although I can not guarantee he will get off dialysis after Immunotherapy, I am sure his dialysis frequency will be reduced after the treatment.
