In view of this, paying extra attention to vitamin intake will be imperative. There are different types of vitamin required by our body. Although almost all the Chronic Kidney Failure patients know vitamin plays a crucial part for a healthy body, seldom of them know why these vitamin are needed and what vitamin they need to ingest and what vitamin they need to avoid. Chronic Kidney Failure patients need to avoid fat soluble vitamins

Fat soluble vitamins are more likely to build up in the body once kidneys are affected. This can cause unnecessary health problems, so in view of this, avoiding fat soluble vitamins is very necessary.

Vitamin A: Vitamin A promotes growth of cells and tissues and protects against infection. However, high levels of vitamin A may cause toxic levels.

Vitamin D: Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus for bones and teeth. For Chronic Kidney Failure patients, their kidneys lose ability to make vitamin D active, so they are more likely to suffer from high level of vitamin D.

Vitamin E: For Chronic Kidney Failure patients, vitamin E supplement is usually not needed, as it may interfere with clotting times.

Vitamin K: Vitamin K is usually not needed unless long term poor intake combined with antibiotic therapy.

Water soluble vitamins required by Chronic Kidney Failure patients

Vitamin B1: usually, 1.5mg/day vitamin B1 supplement is needed by Chronic Kidney Failure patients.

Vitamin B2: For Chronic Kidney Failure patients who are on dialysis, 1.1-1.3mg/day is proper and for these without dialysis, 1.8 grams of vitamin B a day is necessary.

Vitamin B6: Vitamin B6 is required by Chronic Kidney Failure patients, but some studies show high levels of vitamin B6 is harmful, so please as doctors for the exact intake.

Vitamin B12: Deficiency of vitamin B12 can cause permanent nerve damage.

Vitamin C: 60-100 mg of vitamin C is recommended for Chronic Kidney Failure patients, no matter they are on dialysis or not.

Different vitamin plays different role for our body to work properly. Chronic Kidney Failure is a problem in kidney, but it can cause involve all the body systems. Therefore, it is necessary for them to adjust vitamin intake according to their illness condition.
