Long-term high phosphorus level affects body from getting enough calcium from blood, which can finally cause various bone problems like bone pain, bone fracture and osteoporosis. For this reason, adjusting phosphorus intake is of great importance. Sunflower seed is a source for phosphorus and said to be able to provide 1158mg of phosphorus per 100 gram serving. Thereby, for Chronic Kidney Failure patients who are told to have elevated phosphorus level in blood needs to stay away from sunflower seeds.

In daily diet, aside from sunflower seeds, Chronic Kidney Failure patients also need to avoid other foods that are high in phosphorus like pumpkin seeds, watermelon seeds, toasted wheat germ, cheese, sesame seeds, tahini, nuts, roasted soybeans, flax seeds and bacon and so on.
