will kidney failure make you tiredWill kidney failure make you tired? Recently, many patients complain they become tired easily and wonder if it is related with their kidney problem. Chronic Kidney Failure is an irreversible illness condition and once being diagnosed with it, patients will experience lots of discomforts like vomiting, nausea, sleep problem and digestive problems and so on. However, will kidney failure cause tiredness directly? If yes, how?

Frequent tiredness indeed is one of the symptoms of kidney failure and mostly it resulted from the following two conditions:

1. Renal anemia

Renal anemia is one of dominant symptoms of kidney failure and refers to the medical condition in which red blood cell count is less than the normal range. Red blood cell are responsible for delivering oxygen to the body tissues via the blood flow through the circulatory system. When red blood cell count is normal than the range, our body tissues can not get enough oxygen effectively, which make us tired easily.

Kidneys are responsible for secreting hemopoietin which is the necessary substance of red blood cell. When kidney failure is formed, the generation of hemopoietin and red blood cells reduce. Therefore, kidney failure patients suffer from frequent tiredness more easily.

2. Uremic encephalopathy

Uremic encephalopathy is an illness condition caused by advanced kidney failure. Kidneys help to discharge toxins produced by our body and when kidneys fail to function properly, toxins build up in blood. These toxins damage patient’s central nervous system and bring them a series of symptoms. In early stage of uremic encephalopathy, kidney failure patients will suffer from tiredness, headache, dizziness, poor concentration and poor memory. At that time, if effective treatment is not given, more symptoms like mental confusion, insanity, seizure and even coma will appear.

Tiredness is a common complain of kidney failure patients. Although its occurrence is closely related with decreased kidney function, it may indicate some other health problems. Therefore, for kidney failure patients with frequent tiredness, they should pay close attention to their physical and illness condition, and once some other discomforts appear, go to doctor directly.
